Dimond’s diplomacy club, Model United Nations, recently attended the State Model UN conference. Dimond students represented the countries of Gabon, Macedonia and Venezuela. “I would say it went very well,” says Club Sponsor Lem Wheeles. Katy Chan was awarded the outstanding delegate award for World Bank. In addition several world resolutions were passed, and two resolutions were passed by the general assembly. Model UN is over for this school year, but next year the club has big plans to attend the Nation High School Model United Nations Conference in New York City. The students will get to have a session in one of the chambers of the actual United Nations building. Plans for next year aside, Dimond’s Model UN club performed outstandingly this year. “The UAA conference was really fun,” says Junior Jennifer Sakumoto. “You get to meet all these people, and talk to them about solving world problems.”
