Noted authors and Nerdfighters John Green and David Leviathan are about to release their latest novel. Green is the author of Printz Award Winner “Looking for Alaska,” Alaska Battle Book “An Abundance of Katherines,” and “Paper Towns.” Levithan is an editor and author who has written countless novels, and many more novels that have been co-written with noted authors such as Rachel Cohn and others. “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” will be released on April 6. The story is written in alternating chapters by Green and Levithan. It is about two boys, each named Will Grayson. One Will Grayson is gay, and the other is straight. The story details how their lives collide, and how they grow because of it. The book is highly anticipated by many. “I have been looking forward to this book since it was announced being released,” says Nerdfighter and Senior Kagan Weatherly. “I loved ‘An Abundance of Katherines,’” says Senior Sarah Cain. In addition to being a highly renowned writer, Green spends a lot of time on Youtube with his brother Hank Green. They post videos on a channel called Vlogbrothers every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The videos talk about anything from severed arms in the Star Wars movies to health care reform to Pakistani politics. Hank Green and John Green started Vlogbrothers in 2007, when the brothers decided to go a whole year without text-based communication. This involved no emails, no text messages, and no phone calls. They communicated purely via Youtube videos. The continued the project when it proved to be a success, although they email and call each other now. The community that watches Vlogbrothers are known as Nerdfighters. Nerdfighters are “made of awesome” and work to “decrease worldsuck” as defined by John Green himself in many of his videos. The Vlogbrothers do many other things besides entertain Youtube viewers. The Green brothers raise money for charities, and raise awareness about the situations of people in third-world countries. They also provide a place where literary lovers can get together and embrace the nerdiness of those around them. John Green is an excellent author who has done a lot for the young adult community of readers and we anxiously await “Will Grayson, Will Grayson.”
