Alex Schumann is a senior at Dimond High school. He has participated in skiing all four years at Dimond while still maintaining a 4.18 GPA. Schumann’s interests include skiing, fishing and boating. After high school, Schumann plans to attend the University of Colorado for the engineering program and then return home to do more fishing. While participating in skiing, his favorite memories on the Dimond ski team were when Tadashi Kibe started skiing and skiing with all his friends. “The guys placed well at State this year,” Schumann said. Nathaniel Normandin, Dimond High ski coach, had this to say about Schumann: “Over the last three years of coaching Alex, he has improved greatly. He was the number one skier for Dimond. And he is overall a good kid to be around.” While attending Dimond, Schumann’s favorite class was AP Chemistry with Jeffrey Keller. He says he enjoyed this class so much because Keller was hilarious. When asked about Schumann, Keller had this to say: “I had Alex last year as both my aide and a student for my AP Chem class. He is a very hard worker and did really well in the class; he was also one of the best aides I’ve ever had. I think Alex is one of the top kids in the school.” His friends Patrick Swalling and Nathan Saxby, both seniors, have been Schumann’s friends since elementary school. When asked about him, Swalling said, “Alex is a very funny and smart guy. And it has been a pleasure to be his friend.” Saxby said, “Alex, that guy loves skiing. He has the most self control of anyone I know. I hope someday Alex will grow a nice beard.” Alex has enjoyed his experience at Dimond and because of attending has gained many new friends and made some great memories.
