Senior Spotlight: Jessica Todd
Can you imagine playing in a soccer game and then running a 400 right after? What about running over five miles in cross country, and then going straight to a three hour gymnastics practice? Well, that’s what senior Jessica Todd has done throughout high school. By the time she graduates, she will have earned 17 varsity letters. Two for freshmen year when she competed in soccer and track. Five for sophomore year when she competed in cross country running, gymnastics, basketball cheer leading, soccer and track. Five for junior year when she competed in flag football, gymnastics, basketball cheer leading, soccer and track. Finally, five for senior year for cross country running, gymnastics, basketball cheer leading, soccer and track. With her help, the track team has won three State titles, the soccer team got a State title, the basketball cheer team got a State title and the flag football team won Regions (there is no State competition for them). She is on athletic council for gymnastics and is the captain for basketball cheer leading and soccer. Somehow, she had enough time to get a 4.0 last semester, and a 3.8 both semesters of her junior year. She has taken six years of Spanish, in addition to four years of Malay. Malay is the language spoken in Malaysia, one of the many places she has lived. She has lived in Malacca, Malaysia; Houston, Texas; Cork, Ireland; and here. In the fall, she will be attending University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She will be running track there on a scholarship, and also received some academic scholarship money. She will be studying sports medicine in college, as she wants to be a physical therapist. In about a month Jessica will be competing at State for track and field, where she is favored to win the long jump, and has a shot in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles (if she competes in the event).
