Honor graduate Samantha Castle has been on varsity soccer since she was a freshman. Castle’s favorite pasttime in high school was winning soccer state in 2010. The state game was against South High school. Dimond won four to one. Everyone was tired because they had semi-finals the day before against Chugiak High School. There were two overtime penalty kicks. Also, when she was a freshman, she tore her ACL during a soccer game. She was on the Dimond turf and, “The entire stadium heard it snap,” said Castle. Castle was on varsity running with Dimond for two years and junior varsity softball also with Dimond. Castle currently has a 3.72 GPA and is excited to graduate. Coming this fall Castle is attending either Northern Arizona University or University of Colorado Springs. She is studying marine biology and Spanish. Castle has been in Spanish class since seventh grade and is currently taking AP Spanish. Castle is also in Mischell Anderson’s AP Pyschology class. Anderson said, “She is an excellent student. She gets very excited about subjects. That I appreciate. She has a very positive attitude and a bubbly personality.” Senior Sarah Clark said, “I have been friends with Sammi since birth. It’s awesome. We’re friends because we’re awesome.” Clark is also friends with Castle’s sister, Josie Castle. Josie Castle is currently a freshman at UAA with a psychology major. Samantha Castle talked about her dog Brandy. “Can’t forget to mention her,” said Samantha Castle. Whenever Samantha isn’t studying she is playing soccer six days a week, sleeping or hanging out with friends. “I guess that is pretty much what I do,” said Samantha Castle. This summer Samantha Castle is play soccer and is planning on coaching with Rush competitive soccer club. She is also hoping to go to Costa Rica with her mom. Samantha Castle wishes she had not messed around freshman year. “I didn’t do my work,” she said. Throughout her high school career Samantha Castle helped with Top Soccer. She coached mentally handicapped kids from the community. For a graduation celebration, Samantha Castle is planning on having a dinner party at her house. “My birthday is a few days after graduation,” she said, so the party will probably be to celebrate both.
