Every year, Dimond does their own version of Saturday Night Live and every year, it has been a great success. Now it’s over and everybody has been talking about it. Sophomore, Brian Draper said, “D.N.L. was hilarious. I haven’t laughed so hard in such a long time. S.N.L. has gotten old and I missed it last year so I was feeling skeptical about it at first and I didn’t really want to go. In the end, my friends persuaded me to come and I have no regrets. I was very impressed with the actors and the singers and I’m looking forward to going again next year.” Senior, Sarah Rogers agreed with Draper, she said “It was really funny. I really liked all the Shaha Shorts and the Weekend Updates, and the short films were hilarious. I’ve watched D.N.L. every year and always loved it and I always told myself I would audition at one point, but I never did. I really regret that now.” Not only did the students who watched the show enjoy it, it seems that the kids that participated in the show also had a a lot of fun. Sophomore Mari Travelerio said, “Oh my gosh, it was so stressful! It was completely hectic, but the best parts had to be the huge number of people, because those same people were waaay too fun to be around! Everyone was chill, no one was made fun of, it was just a ton of kids having fun.” Many of this year’s seniors were in D.N.L. and most of them said that it was one of the best experiences of their high school years. Senior Ryan Watson says, “DNL was amazing this year. It really is one of my favorite things that happen throughout the year, it’s always been tons of fun, I get to meet lots of new people and I’m going to miss it next year.” It wasn’t just the seniors that had fun, the directors this year had a great time with it as well. DNL director Carrie Smith said, “What I liked best about DNL this year was the group of kids, we had a great group of kids, they were all on board and fun to work with and there was also some great scripts. It almost made the show a bit of a challenge, we had a lot of great scripts this year and obviously we can’t have a three hour show so we could only choose a few. Also all the kids wanted to be a big part of it, all of them wanted to get as much out of the experience as they could and there was a lot of kids so it was hard to give each of them big parts. In the end, we managed to get 8 $600 scholarships. This was definitely one of the best DNLs we’ve had in a while.”
