Class of 2022 Valedictorian: Billy Reinbold

Class of 2022 Valedictorian: Billy Reinbold

Billy Reinbold grew up in Alaska, he enjoys all Alaska has to offer such as hunting, fishing, snow machining, and hiking. Billy has been a part of Japanese Immersion since he attended Sand Lake Elementary. After elementary school he went to Mears middle school and now Dimond high. Billy has a maintained weighted GPA of 4.44 all while participating in multiple extracurriculars. Some sports he has played in are varsity football, discus and shot put in track and field. Billy is part of multiple clubs, such as Key club, and NHS which he is the president of.

Our fantastic Billy was accepted Feb. 10 into MIT, a school with an acceptance rate of 7 percent, and will be attending in the fall of 2022. He is looking into possibly majoring in Chemistry, but is not 100 percent sure at this time. While he works on his studies, he will also be playing football at a D3 level, and might also throw the discus. “I would like to be able to enjoy the sport and the collegiate experience,” said Billy.

Billy has a large family. Included in his family are his three siblings, Mary, James, and Katie. Both of Billy’s parents are doctors. His mother is a retired ER Doctor, she attended Boston University for her undergrad, and later attended Oregon Health and Science University. She retired after having her first born Mary, and is now a stay-at-home mom. His father is a Dimond Alumni and was also on the football team for his time at Dimond. He attended Whitman College as his undergrad and continued his education at Oregon Health and Science University. Now Dr. Reinbold practices oral surgery here in Anchorage. Billy has thought of becoming a doctor, “going down that rabbit hole would be cool,” but he has also thought of becoming a renewable energy person and creating renewable energy in Alaska. He thinks both careers would be intriguing.
