Interstellar Society Explores Outer Space

With the start of a new start of the new year, many new clubs have been formed at Dimond High.

One of them in particular is the Interstellar Society. The club meets on Mondays in Joshua Hall’s room, A204, during upperclassman lunch, where students discuss the mysterious wonders of outer space.

The Interstellar Society explores the wonders of the ever-expanding universe. In the club they discuss space phenomena and hold activities that are related to space, such as the origins of the universe, the worlds outside of our own, the other galaxies besides our own, etc.

Jason Choi is a Dimond High senior and the club’s president.

“The club is about expanding public interest in space by encouraging members to be creative and have fun exploring the wonders of space,” Choi said.

Choi also said, “It’s pretty obvious why I was on board with the idea. I have a big fascination for space and astrophysics. Whenever I think about space, I get really into it. Like what it is like beyond our world, what can we find in other star systems, and a grander scale, what it is like in other galaxies, be it close to ours or some galaxy on the other side of the universe. It is really interesting when you think about it.”

The club’s origin is quite amusing.

Choi said “A group of friends and I have always been particularly interested in space, and when one of us jokingly suggested we form a club at Dimond based on it, the idea stuck.hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi

”Together we’ve been working to bring the club to life so that we and others can have fun and explore,” he said.

“If I had anything to say to students who are considering joining our club, anyone is welcome. Even if they don’t know much about space, our club is great way to learn more about space. So our door is always open to anyone,” Choi said

Carson Hile, another Dimond High School senior and Interstellar Society club member, expressed his opinion on the club, “I have alway been interested in astronomy astrophysics, so when I heard that a new club had been formed based around the idea of space, I decided, ‘why not?’ and joined the club.

“I enjoy our time talking about space. My favorite subject is what it would be like if we could travel the universe with no constraints and explore new galaxies and worlds.”

Hile also explained that he plans on majoring in astrophysics in college.

The club is always looking for new members to join and talk to outer space.
