Hey, students and staff at Dimond. Welcome to the first issue of the Igaramkin newspaper. I know it’s been a very eventful summer for everybody, and now we just had Homecoming. I hope everyone had an amazing time, I know I sure did. (I took our wack Editor-In-Chief. He had an amazing time.) Regardless of the fun times we now recognize as a night we were forever young, I came to share some fun times over the last two weeks.
With that out of the way, I hope you guys had fun with Spirit Week. I saw some amazing outfits, better than last year’s too. In case you missed out, Monday we had no school, Tuesday was Treasure hunt (Pirate day), and Wednesday I believe was SOS, being Titanic themed. Thursday was Pretty in Pink, Barbie-themed. Friday was our maroon and gold theme. Check around socials for people who have uploaded pictures! I’m also aware that we had games just before the dance: JV Tackle football at 9 a.m. and Flag Football at 12. During halftime, the crowning of king and queen happened, A big congrats to Javonte W & Charlotte C for winning Homecoming King and Queen. Seniors had a Barbie and Ken-themed float, Juniors were themed for the Titanic, and Sophomores as Pirates of the Caribbean. Finally, Freshman being, Minions. Moving onto the dance, from what I heard, we had no real theme for Homecoming, just dress nicely and have a good time! The dances are usually longer, but they decided to end it around 10 p.m. this year. While this is understandable the longer the dances are the more fun they tend to be. I’m not suggesting having some crazy party, I’m just saying for future reference, we should go back to having the dances around 11. If you didn’t attend the dance, you didn’t miss too much. Everyone had mixed opinions about the DJ; some even suggested getting the one we had at Sadie Hopkins, from last year. We had little to no slow dancing songs as well which bummed out some of the couples who were looking forward to them, but regardless everyone still had a pretty good time. I won’t try and convince everyone to go to dances, but I still suggest it. Even if you’re just going by yourself or with friends. Going to these dances is always an unforgettable experience. I still remember all the dances I went to last year, and I made so many memories with my friends laughing and giggling over the cheesy but good music. If you want a real high school experience, go to the dances. Not only do dances provide an opportunity to socialize and have fun, but they also allow you to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the vibrant atmosphere. From the energetic dance floor to the stunning decorations, each dance creates a unique ambiance that adds to the overall experience. So, whether you’re a dance enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable night, attending these dances is definitely worth considering.
