I have been running a beater with a heater for this newspaper for a whole year, and now I want to tell you about my car. I own a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Coupe 2D. It comes with a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter. It has a 5-speed manual with 150,000 miles and is front-wheel drive.
The day I bought the car it had problems. There was an overheating problem so I never drove it and it ended up sitting in my driveway just to find out coolant and oil were coming out of the exhaust pipe. So, we thought it was either a blown head gasket or the head gasket had been put on wrong by the last owner. So me, my friends, and my dad had to take it apart. We got to the head gasket the first day working on it. It wasn’t extremely hard but I couldn’t have done it without my friends. We looked at the head first to find it warped so, I took it to a shop in Eagle River to get it resurfaced and a check-up to see if there were any leaks. It was all good besides the warpage. I paid like 200 bucks for the fix. It wasn’t bad. Then a few weeks later we started putting it back together. We had started and we started butting the shafts back on for the timing and then we couldn’t get to the timing on the side of the engine we would have to remove the coolant stuff and something else which would be hard. We had gotten started on just getting the shafts on but while torquing down one of the 20-year-old bolts it snapped inside the head. Then I went to go get new ones to find out that it was discontinued so I ended up buying the same type of bolt made by someone else. They were expensive for bolts 200 bucks for like 25 bolts I had bought extras just in case. I went to compare the new bolts to the old ones and they aren’t the right ones I needed but I did need 6 of the 25 I bought because they did work on something so I used like 20 bucks worth of the bag of bolts. So they are discontinued and I have to continue looking or the car won’t see the daylight for another few months. So we have worked on it once and got a lot of things back together but we haven’t finished the car yet. My parents got me some parts for my birthday. I got a new pulley and sensor. We should be working on it soon since I just turned 16 so that means license if I have this class next year I will continue this story.
