Journalism is an interesting class, with people from all different backgrounds joining to share their stories and thoughts for Igaramkin. I interviewed Levi Hays. We were asked to interview people about their summers and why they joined journalism. Levi, a Junior at Dimond, joined journalism for the 2023-24 school year as a means to escape pottery. He disliked the idea of sculpting clay and would rather write articles and contribute to Igramkin. Alongside Igaramkin, Levi contributes to clubs in the school such as our Battle of the Books, GSA, and theater.
Over the summer, he shared with me that he had started working, while he does not enjoy the environment of his job, he enjoys luxuries like paychecks and being able to buy things himself. On top of that, he went to Sitka Fine Arts Camp for the fourth year this year. He took classes such as Procreate, Filmmaking, Band, and Graphic Design. His favorite of all the classes was band, he plays the clarinet and enjoys being the band director at Sitka.
