There is soon to be another Dimond High School Waffle Club. It is in the process

of being approved, but it will follow in the footsteps of the former Waffle Club, which was overseen by Brett Roth.

Each club needs an adult supervisor, and the newest supervisor for Waffle Club will be Greg Brown. He has agreed to let the members meet in his room at 7 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays to create waffles.

Students seem to be in favor of having a waffle club, but not all want to pay for it.

“I think Waffle Club should be free. Also, I think the waffles should be free. So should the syrup, the butter and the peanut butter,” said Senior Sam Ferguson.

Student donations will be required to keep the club running, so members who do not contribute to the club will have their memberships revoked.

There have been debates about whether the club should be open to the public or if there should be memberships issued.

“I think it is a great idea and it should be free,” said Senior Osamu Jones, “open to the public, before school for breakfast.”

Most students asked have agreed that the club should meet before school, and not after. When asked if he thinks the Waffle Club reboot is a good idea, Senior Jarod O’Brien said, “I like waffles.”

What does the club accomplish?

“Basically, we will just come to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning and cook waffles. It will be pretty sick,” said Senior Colton Stephens.

Originally, the club was going to sell waffles to students in the morning, but complications with selling products made it difficult, so waffles will be free for club members.

The club will not create anything other than waffles.

“We do not mess around with pancakes or any other breakfast food,” said Senior Matt Beardsley.

Members get to experiment with different waffles fillings and toppings. The club will receive its ingredient money through monthly member fees.

With the club starting 30 minutes before school, there will be plenty of time to cook before classes start.

Waffle Club will be meeting every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 a.m. in Brown’s room. Applications for membership will be available by Sept. 30.
